eght to doomsday

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's pre-doomsday fractal is a close-up of the edge of the curious rectangle that appeared in yesterday's image.  The slow top part of the scene is the inside of the rectangle, the much faster bottom part consists of outside stuff.

To me, the image appears as little more than a vast wasteland, perhaps the way our earth will appear the day after doom.

The calculation starts out slow, but as the scan moves down the screen, the calculation speeds up condiderably.  The total time of 3-3/4 minutes is slower than I would prefer, but still fast enough to allow time to prepare for the end.  The name "Eight to Doomsday" indicates that the remaining days are dwindling fast.

Total sun and a temperature of 43F +6C made today near ideal for the middle of December here at Fractal Central.  The cats and humans had an uneventful day of preparing for the holiday season.  The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours, but beware, the day of doom is steadily approaching.  Until then, take care, and where will you be when time runs out?  Or perhaps a better question is where will I be.
