Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:  

'tis the season of peace and harmony on earth, so suck it up and enjoy it.  Actually, I have had it with looking for the bright side of current events.   This might be the last FOTD in a long time, or at least until I see everyone, liberal and conservative; black and white; man and woman; Christian and Muslim, etc. actually living together in peace and harmony.  If this is an ideal situation that could never be achieved, then we already know when the next FOTD might appear.

Today's image is a near-Julia set of a point along the negative X-axis of the Z^(1.5)+C Mandeloid.  This area is also filled with fractal trees, but to see them the angles of the slice must be reset to 90,90.

I gave both the art and the math a rating of 6 because the whole thing seems average.  The name "Tongues of Fire" has nothing to do with the feast of Pentecost.  It is simply a phrase that came to mind as I was pondering the country's mostly self-inflicted woes.

The calculation time of 1-1/4 minutes will bring neither grief nor impatience.  And the web sites can reduce the wait for satisfaction a bit.

A heavy overcast and temperature of 34F +1C made today's weather as depressing as the day's news here at Fractal Central.  The fractal cats, perhaps picking up the humans' glum feelings, made themselves as scarce as possible.

The next FOTD will be posted when I find the inspiration to search for another fractal, color it, and post it.  Until whenever that might be, take care, and conservatives blame progressives, progressives blame conservatives, the police blame inner city criminals, inner city residents blame the police, Muslim terrorists blame American imperialism, America blames Muslim terrorists, feminists blame men, men blame feminists, etc., etc., etc.  As for me, I blame the spiritual bankruptcy of our western culture, and I don't mean a lack of widespread faith in the Christian idea of salvation through the vicarious atonement of J.C.
