ringworld fantasy

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image lies in the oversized monstrosity of a fractal that results when 3.3 negative parts of Z^(-1.3) are combined with 1.3 negative parts of Z^(-3.3) on each iteration before (1/C) is added.

This parent fractal is an immense thing, extending far beyond the default screen.  It consists of two giant rings surrounded by smaller rings, some connected, some not, with a large Mandelbrot set between the two giant rings.  The 0,0 point lies on the western perimeter of the southern ring; today's scene lies on the eastern perimeter of the same ring.

I have not yet checked the large Mandelbrot set, though I might do so in a day or so.  I have found that these blatant M-sets usually contain mostly typical M-set stuff, and little new stuff, with the really unusual features lying in the least likely places of the parent.

The name "Ringworld Fantasy" came about when I found myself pondering other possible worlds.  I seem to be entering one of those philosophical spells that come every few years, and the effects are likely to show in the FOTD titles of the next month or so, as well as the closing philosophizing.

The artistic rating of a 7 is due mostly to the strong coloring. The math rating of a 6 shows that there is really no new math in the image.

The calculation time of 1-3/4 minutes will pass quickly enough.  It will pass even quicker for those who fill the time pondering the meaning of life.

Morning sun and afternoon clouds made the day eminently forgettable here at Fractal Central.  The temperature of 66F 19C was mild enough.  The fractal cat, who is never bothered by clouds, spent the afternoon as a lump under a chair cover.  The credulous humans made it through the day with little difficulty or emotional stress.

The next FOTD will be posted before too long.  Until that time arrives, take care, and I see that the number of mass-killing victims is piling up around the world.  This morning I heard one blithe news reporter comment that we might just have to learn to accept such realities as part of the present-day world.  I guess this means we will have to accept increased mass killings as an inevitable part of modern life.

This is where our materialistic high technology has taken and is continuing to take us!

Can anyone deny that our current materialistic world-view is leading our culture in an ever-downward direction, in which our spiritual emptiness is manifesting as growing insanities and ever more desperate atrocities?  I guess not.  After all, it was almost a century ago that as great a thinker as Bertrand Russel wrote that no philosophy not based on total despair can hope to endure.
