Today's image lies in the East Valley of the large minibrot on the main stem of its parent Mandeloid.  Nothing unusual in that. But in today's case, the Mandeloid is not the classic Mandelbrot set; it is the figure that results when the expression Z^(2.15)+C is iterated 9 levels up the hyperladder.

The parent fractal resembles a Mandelbrot set rotated so that its main spike faces northwest instead of west.  The southern lobe of its main bay is also grossly swollen, though this peculiarity has no significance in today's image.  The shape of the minibrot at the center of the image closely resembles the shape of its parent.

The pattern around the minibrot in the image gives the impression it lies close to the cut-off point of its parent.  But such is not the case.  The scene actually lies quite close to a discontinuity.  These breaks sometimes act as cut-off points.

The rating of a 7 is FOTD average.  The name "Emerald Anxiety" refers to the emerald coloring of the scene.  The word 'anxiety' was added for artistic reasons.  The calculation time of just over 1-1/2 minutes is pleasantly brief.

Heavy rain with embedded torrential thunder-storms prevailed all day today here at Fractal Central.  As of the 5pm post time, about 10 inches or 25cm of rain has fallen, and it is still coming.  The fractal cats wondered what all the water is about.  The fractal sump pump is doing its job, but the floor is still covered with puddles.  The humans had a day of checking for new leaks, of which several appeared.  The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.  Until then, take care, and the local farmers prayed for rain during June and July, and now that the Deity has answered their prayers, they are praying for the rain to stop.
