Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

I found today's image on the first dive into the parent fractal, which was unusually good fractal luck.  Much to my surprise, the image I turned up rates a lofty 9.

The generating expression subtracts a tiny part of Z^100 from just over 1 part of Z^2 then adds (1/C) to create a parent fractal that is impossible to describe in words, but consists mainly of a wild mixture of holes and outside stuff.

In today's image the holes, which were brought to life with the 'bof60' inside fill, are reddish, while the outside stuff is bluish.  The inside of the minibrot is the dead black color in register 077, with assorted other brilliant inside and outside stuff surrounding it.

The name "Something to Watch" would have been more appropriate if the FOTD had been a changing animation.  As it is, the viewer will have to watch a stationary scene.

The rating of a 9 seems appropriate.  The image actually is quite good.

The calculation time of 1-3/4 minutes is very reasonable considering that an image with a rating of a 9 will be calculated in that interval.

Wednesday here at Fractal Central featured thickening clouds, with a forecast of torrential rain on Thursday.  The temperature of 70F 21C was quite pleasant.  The fractal cats spent the day watching for stray cats in the area.  I spent the day wondering how much water might get into the fractal basement if the forecast 6-in 15-cm of rain actually falls.  The next FOTD is due to be posted in 24 hours.  If nothing goes wrong, it might actually appear.  Until next time, take care, and be prepared.
