strangeness

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image rates only a 6, which is un-exceptional, but it's still a rather interesting one, filled with various unexpected features and assorted other minor delights.

The parent fractal is a Mandelbrot set with two parallel main spikes.  Today's scene lies in the chaos between the spikes just east of the two large minibrots.

The curious value of the real(p2) parameter is critical.  The parent fractal has perfect X-axis symmetry only at this strange value, which is the reason I named the image "Land of Strangeness".

The calculation time of 12-1/4 minutes is slower than I would like.  Rendering the image with passes=g cuts the calculation time significantly, but it also misses much of the finer detail.

Wednesday was totally perfect here at Fractal Central, with Kodachrome blue skies, gentle breezes and a temperature of 73F 23C.  The fractal cats spent the morning watching for intruding cats, and the afternoon, sleeping.  My day was comfortably busy. FL spent most of the day with her flowers.  The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.  Until then, take care, and now that the old Kodachrome film is gone, the skies will never again appear so blue.
