Today's image is a zoom into yesterday's image, this time to a magnitude of almost 2*(10^22).  And what has happened to our elephants?  Nothing.  They are still here, though far less apparent than in yesterday's image.  They lurk along the edges of all the arms, waiting only for another inzoom to reveal a few of them.

The name "Elephant Microscope" emphasizes the magnitude of the scene.  At the scale of today's image, the entire Mandelbrot set would be at least the size of the entire galaxy, if not the size of the entire visible universe.

The rating of an 8 indicates that the image has both mathematical and artistic worth.  And I did put some extra time into the coloring.

Requiring arbitrary precision math, the image is rather slow, taking just under 13 minutes on the 2000mhz unit, but the result is worth the effort.

Sunday proved to be another really pleasant day here at Fractal Central, with lots of sun and a temperature of 66F 19C.  Instead of hiding from the sun as they did all summer, the fractal cats chased the sun as it flooded their sunny shelf in the southwest window.  My day was about average, while FL passed the time in her garden.  The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.  Until then, take care, and exert top effort.
