Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:  

The iterated expression behind today's image subtracts 2 parts of Z^(-0.9) from 2 parts of Z^(0.9) before adding straight C.  This harmless combination produces an undersized and twisted Mandelbrot set with its main stem pointing southward.  Today's scene lies in a period-10 radical complex on the bud side of the south branch of Seahorse Valley.

Both the art and math rate a 6.  The art aspect of the image has little more going for it than the brilliant greens, while the image itself could be almost but not quite duplicated by checking the same area of the classic Mandelbrot set.  This similarity holds the math to its rating of a 6.

The name "Organized Disorder" expresses what fractals are all about.  The calculation time of 1-1/2 minutes will waste no time.  But the web sites are always there to make life even easier.

Too many clouds and a temperature that rose from a morning low of 14F -10C to an afternoon high of 23F -5C made today rather unpleasant here at Fractal Central.  The only good news was the lack of snow and ice.  The fractal cats passed the day in the warmest spots they could find.  The fractal humans were too busy to notice the temperature.

The next FOTD will be posted soon.  Until then, take care, and the current weather certainly does not seem to be cooperating with those trying to convince us that mankind is in dire danger from 'climate change' AKA man-made global warming.  If the climate warnings were coming from actual meteorologists rather than the government hacks known as climate scientists, I might take the 'need for action' a little more seriously.
