nets of iteration

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

The outer shape of the object in today's image shows that it lies in a Seahorse Valley, in this case the Seahorse Valley of the large minibrot on the west branch of the filament extending from the period-3 north bud of the parent fractal, which on the surface is a Mandelbrot set.

The overlapping circles filling the outer shape are skeletal minibrots of order 101.  The mixture of order-2 and order-101 features combines into a pleasing fractal image, which, with the help of the colors, rates a solid 8-1/2.

The areas that resemble fishing nets consist of increasingly cut-off order-101 skeleton minibrots.

The incredible value of the imag(p1) parameter is no mistake.  Every order of magnitude is needed to bring out the quadratic features in the deeper parts of the parent fractal.

The name "Nets of Iteration" is a poetic impression of the image, though still quite appropriate.

The calculation time of 2-4/5 minutes is a good guess of the time the image would have taken to finish on the 2000mhz machine, which is only 4 times as fast as the 200mhz.  The image actually finished in 10-1/2 minutes.

The usual early fog cleared off by mid-morning, followed by a day with hazy sun and a temperature of 57F 14C.  My day was simply another in a long string of average but rather moody days that are neither good nor bad, on which I occupy myself with the job of experiencing life and wondering what it's all about.

FL, always the more practical, wondered why I was wondering about something I could do nothing about.  The fractal cats spent the day wondering when their next tuna treat would be served.  The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours, come rain or shine.  Until then, take care, and when will science and religion reconcile their conflicting views and bring spiritual peace (the only true peace) to everyone?

PS -- No, I am not a believer in religion, nor do I put too much faith in science.
