krakatoa eruption

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image is another of those strange and totally unpredictable things that the MandNewt formulas can produce.  The formula, number 14 of the series, is a new one, so be sure to copy it into your formula file.  BTW, I have no idea of what these formulas actually do.

To me, the image appears to be a volcano in full eruption, complete with the underground magma still rising to the surface. I named it "Krakatoa Eruption" after the most recent super-eruption, which took place on an island between Sumatra and Java late in the 19th Century.

My extra coloring effort raises the art rating to a lofty 9.  The math rates an 8.  If I knew exactly what is going on with the math in the image, the math could also have rated a 9.

The calculation time of 2-1/2 minutes will pass in a flash as soon as the top of the fiery cloud above the erupting volcano becomes visible.  This time may be cut down by checking the web sites.

The day began mild enough, but a thick blanket of clouds spoiled the morning hours.  The sun finally broke through in the afternoon, which allowed the temperature to reach a very pleasant 75F 24C.  With the temperature so mild, the fractal cats were not worried about the lack of sun, and devoted their energies to getting as much food as possible.  The humans had another average day.  It's not very exciting but it's true.

The next FOTD will be posted in a day or two, maybe three.  Until whenever, take care, and whatever happened to the threat of the end of the world?
