shifting gears

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

In today's FOTD we get a glimpse into the world of high-order fractal images, which can be nowhere near as boring as first appears, when they are done right.

As a demonstration, in today's FOTD we check the East Valley area of the half-morphed large minibrot on the main spike of the parent fractal, which is a Mandelbrot set with Z^31 tendencies rather close to the surface.

This location abounds with areas of erosion that are full of Z^31 minibrots arranged in the patterns that would normally be expected in this part of the Mandelbrot set.  I went quite deep into the parent before I found today's scene, which lies in a much larger but similar scene.

I named the image "Shifting Gears" when the scattered order-31 minibrots reminded me of a fantastic nest of crushed cogwheels.

The rating of 7-1/2 reflects my opinion of the true worth of the image, which is held down somewhat by the similarity of many recent FOTD images.

The calculation time of a mere 30 seconds makes running the included parameter file at least a breeze if not a hurricane.

The day began cloudy here at Fractal Central.  A brief light thunder-shower passed over at 11am, followed by a sunny afternoon with a temperature of 68F 20C.  The fractal cats were pleased by the warmth, but would have preferred to have more of the sun coming straight in the windows.

The humans, who have heard more than enough over-hyped media talk about racial hatred recently, were left wondering what the real problem is.  The next FOTD, with no fractalish hatred involved, will be posted in 24 hours.  Until then, take care, and no problem will ever be solved until people are willing to see the true nature of the problem.
