Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image is late; accept my apologies.  An antiquing trip to Annville erupted around noon, and we did not arrive back at FC until after 7pm.

The name of today's image, "Cream of Fractals", came to me as I cooked a pot of a well-known breakfast cereal, when the bubbles in the cooking cereal reminded me of the details in the green area of the image.

The simple iterated expression subtracts 0.01 part of Z^(-9) from 0.4 part of Z^2 and adds straight C on each iteration.  The resulting parent fractal resembles a distorted Mandelbrot set with its bays partly filled with cell-like features.  Today's image lies near a rather large minibrot in the area of Scepter Valley.

The rating of a 7 indicates average satisfaction on my part.  I might have raised the rating another point if I had put more effort into the coloring, rather than letting the image go with one of Fractint's random color palettes.

The calculation time of 1-1/2 minutes is a pretty good deal, though even this little effort may be saved by viewing the image on one of the web sites.

The spring-like weather that has been gracing Fractal Central for over a week came to a sudden end today as heavy clouds moved in and periods of rain wet the blossoming plants.  The fractal cats registered strong complaints about the lack of sun, the lack of humans, and the temperature of only 59F 15C.

The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.  Until then, take care, and once upon a time there was a certain school with 400 students who said a prayer every day at the start of classes.  Everyone was happy, but then an Atheist boy enrolled and complained to his parents that he had been forced to hear the other students pray to a god he did not believe in.  When his family took legal action the school was ordered to stop the prayers.  Instead of one offended student there now were 400 offended students, but everyone said they felt good because the problem had been solved and justice for all had been done.
