Today's image is a scene near a larger minibrot in the East Valley of its oversized parent Mandelbrot set, which is corrupted in its depths by Z^19 energies.

I named the image "Mass Confusion" because of the confused periodicity of the elements surrounding the minibrot.  These elements have been caught in the act of shifting from the Z^2 series to the Z^19 series, and cannot decide exactly which course to take.

More confusion arises in the maxiter of the image elements, which is lowest in the peak of the brilliant orange area in the upper-left quadrant and highest in the lower right.

The rating of a 7-1/2 includes 1/2 point for the extra effort I put into the coloring.  The extra effort was needed to bring the colors to a reasonable GIF-type smoothness.

The calculation time of 2-1/2 minutes will simply fly by if you have something else to occupy your attention while the image is building on the screen.

A blue summer-like sky filled with puffy white cumulus clouds, and a summer-like temperature of 73F 23C, made the first day of spring here at Fractal Central feel more like the start of summer than the start of spring.  We heard no complaints from the fractal cats, who enjoyed the conditions to the utmost.

The humans made it through another day without notable incident, which is more difficult than it appears, especially considering the nature of the world.  The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.  Until then, take care, and keep searching for ultimate reality, but be ready to recognize and accept it when you find it.  It might not be what you wanted and hoped to find.
