Fractal
visionaries
and enthusiasts:
The iterated expression behind today's image is one of the most unusual
of all time. To create the parent fractal I added an
infinitesimal 0.0000000000000001 part of Z^(-2) to a whopping 100 parts
of Z^2. This unlikely combination produces a parent
Mandelbrot
set so tiny that it appears as little more than a dot at the center of
the screen.
The magnitude of today's image is over 10^14, and still has a little
way to go before breakdown appears. This does not mean I have
found a way to increase the limit of definition. What has
happened is that the 100 parts of Z^2 have shifted the decimal point
two places to the left, and we are simply getting greater magnification
of a smaller parent fractal.
The tiny parent M-set appears pretty much normal until we venture into
its more extreme depths, where strange things, including
anti-bifurcation begin to appear. Today's image lies in the
East
Valley area of the parent, though only a few signs of East Valley
elements are in the scene.
The name "Eastern Confusion" refers to the unexpected details in the
image. The art rating of 7 indicates that the image is worth
a
look. The math rating of an 8 indicates that in this image we
might be on the verge of something quite new. Only time and
investigation will tell.
The calculation time of 1-3/4 minutes will pass in a flash.
The
flash may be avoided by viewing the image on one of the web sites.
The weather was near perfect here at Fractal Central today, with
photoshop blue skies, puffy cottonball clouds, low humidity and a
temperature of 79F 26C. Both the fractal cat and humans had a
reasonably good day.
The next FOTD will be posted in the proper time. Until
whenever
that might be, take care, and may the aliens from outer space show
themselves.
