Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

The formula behind today's image is (-Z)^(2.000001)+C, an expression that creates a parent Mandelbrot set with an infinitely divided main spike.  And as been the case for the past several days, today's scene lies in the main-spike chaos.

I first thought of naming today's image something like 'Identical Twins-II', but then I noticed that the twin minibrots in the image are not even close to being identical.  At first glance they appear to be nearly the same, but a closer examination reveals that the purple patterns around them are oriented 90 degrees apart.  I had no choice but to name the image "Fraternal Twins".

Though the theme is beginning to grow a bit stale, I still feel that today's image is worth a rating of an 8.

A good part of the worth is due to the color palette, which has worked well for a number of days now.

The calculation time of 1-1/3 minutes will pass quickly.

Typical midsummer conditions prevailed here at Fractal Central today, with hot sun and a temperature of 91F 33C.  The fractal cats made the most of things by spending the afternoon in the security of their cat cube labyrinth.

The human male spent the day doing chores.  FL spent a couple hours tending her garden, which is starting to get dry.  The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.  Until then, take care, and the best FOTD's are yet to come.
