Fractal
visionaries
and enthusiasts:
Let the banners wave and the trumpets blare! I'm
back! At
least for a day, that is.
These past few weeks I have been practicing drawing fractals and
combining them with more traditional scenes. Perhaps the most
curious thing about drawing fractals is that I was doing it forty years
ago and never realized it. In the not too distant future I
might
post a few of my blundering mixed-media efforts to the official FOTD
web site, but for now the images will stay securely hidden away.
Today's scene lies off to the side of East Valley of a tiny minibrot on
the main spike of the Mandelbrot set. It looks like a Julia
set,
but actually it is an 'Oblate' set.
The name "In a Grey Fog" refers to the colors of the image, not to my
mood. The art rating of 6 leaves room for improvement, while
the
math rating of 5 shows that we have been here often before.
The calculation time of 2-1/4 minutes is well within reason.
And
as always, total reason prevails at the FOTD web sites.
Snow and more snow prevailed here at Fractal Central today, with light
snow still falling and 11 inches, 28cm, already on the
ground.
But it looks like the over-hyped monster storm will bypass this area to
the east. Along with the snow and ice, the temperature of 25F
-4C
kept the feeling of midwinter on everyone's mind. Meanwhile,
the
fractal cats were more excited about footprints left by a prowling
tomcat than the snow itself. The humans passed the day watching the
snow pile up and pondering the job of removing it. The next
FOTD
will be posted who knows when. Until whenever, take care, and
be
on the right side or be left out.
