Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image is found in the same oversized Mandelbrot set as yesterday's.  But instead of lying just west of the main-spike minibrot, it lies in the minibrot's East Valley.

The image does not show the bottomless pit of a minibrot, though it is filled with minibrots.  It shows what I call an 'antiminibrot'.  In this case a decorated shield-shaped dimple rising up toward the surface, with its high point near the center of the shield.

I named the image "Scene Near a Peak" when I noticed the wrong way the colors flow when the image is in coloring mode.

I rated the image at an 8, which means I consider it significantly above average, even if it does appear a bit too feminine for the macho fractal tastes that are so trendy in today's high-speed modern world.

The calculation time of a fireball 40 seconds will come as a blessing to those caught up in the rat race.

The morning rain ended by midday today here at Fractal Central, but the clouds hung tough for the rest of the afternoon, showing no signs of breaking until just before sunset.  The temperature of 45F +7C was mild enough to please the dynamic duo of fractal cats, who grow ever harder to please as they grow older.  The humans had a near normal day.  The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.  Until then, take care, and be thankful you were not born 50 years later.
