Today's image is a scene in a side spiral of the period-10 bud on the northeast shore line of the Mandelbrot set.  This area is very near the depth where the East Valley elephants start to appear, and hints of the ponderous pachyderms are indeed visible in the image.

Most of the effect is a result of rendering the image with the outside set to 'tdis'.  Setting the outside to 'iter' speeds up the image by 100 times, but also drops the acceptable rating of a 6 to an embarrassingly low 3.

The name "Party in Hyperspace" does not imply 4-D festivities.  It is merely some words that came to mind when I entered the 'naming' mode.

The calculation time is a rather inconvenient 13 minutes.  But a quick idea of the scene may be seen in 8 seconds by resetting the outside to 'iter' and the logmap to a negative 1916.

Light snow fell all morning here at Fractal Central, though by the time it ended, only 1cm had piled up.  The afternoon temperature of 34F +1C quickly eliminated what had fallen in the morning.  The fractal cats were ambivalent about the situation, and finally decided they would rather be well fed than cozy.
