Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image takes us deep into the parent side of the west branch of the prominent valley of the large period-3 bud on the northern side of the main bay of the Mandelbrot set, where after a minor bit of exploration, we find today's scene, featuring the usual central minibrot.

The image was rendered with the outside set to 'summ', though the only improvement over the normal 'iter' rendering is a few brilliant highlights.  Perhaps the best rendering is achieved by resetting the logmap to 'yes' and setting the outside to 'tdis'. Unfortunately, this increases the calculation time to an hour, and I'm not sure the result is worth the effort.

Since the Mandelbrot set has been examined and examined again so many times, I could give the image a rating no higher than an average 5, but it's really a rather pleasant scene, with its strikingly intense colors.

The name "The Far North" indicates the location of the scene in respect to the main bay of the M-set.  Those who wish to be reminded of Greenland by the name, may do so at their pleasure.

The 41-second calculation time of the fast parameter file will pass in a flash.  Those who decide to run the slow version will have their decision rewarded by a slightly different, questionably better version of the same scene.
