Today's image is not nearly as threatening as its name implies.  The "Arc of Destruction" is the arc of evaporation that is advancing from the southeast and has been caught in the process of devouring the central minibrot.  The position of the arc is determined by the value of the imag(p3) parameter, which sets the escape radius.  Increasing the value moves the arc to the left, devouring more of the minibrot; decreasing it moves the arc to the right, restoring some of the already devoured stuff.

The art aspect of the image is worth only an average 6.  The math aspect rates an excellent 8.  These arcs of evaporation are one of the more interesting fractal things I have yet stumbled upon.

Perhaps the best aspect of the image is its fireball calculation time of a mere 20 seconds.  The parameter file must first be set up however, but even this may be eliminated by checking the FOTD web sites.

The day began with light snow.  By the time it ended around noon, a fresh 2 inches, 5cm, of snow covered the ground.  This amount is nothing, and was cleared away with a broom in 15 minutes, while the fractal cats watched and supervised from their shelf in the window.  The fractal he-man complained of an ache in the back, while FL listened with sympathy.

The next FOTD will be posted in a matter of hours.  The big mystery is the exact number of hours.  Until whenever, take care, and how can you tell a conservative from a liberal?  Conservatives prefer dogs, who obediently follow orders; liberals choose cats, who do what they please.
