Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:  

Today's fractal shows one of the things that happens when Z^(1.8) is combined with 0.1 part of Z^(18) and straight C is added on each iteration.  The parent fractal is a large shapeless open bay with a moth-eaten M-set on its eastern side.  This M-set has a main spike that shoots out to the east and curls to the north before terminating in a smaller bay just to its east.  Today's scene lies near the point where the spike enters the smaller bay.

The name "Island Universe" sounds like more than it means.  This name was once applied to remote galaxies far out in the universe, but as far as I can see, it has little to do with today's image.

The art rating of a 7 might have been a point or so higher if I had been in a better state of mind when I did the rating.  The perfectly average math rating of a 5 shows that much of the impact is gone from the images created by the MandAutoCritInZ formula.

As for the calculation time of 2-1/2 minutes, which is right on the borderline of slowness, I leave it to the individual fractal fanatic to make the decision whether to calculate the image or check it on the web sites.

After a morning low of -2f -19C the temperature rose to a balmy 23F -5C in the afternoon.  The sunny skies pleased the fractal cats, but with an indeterminate amount of snow forecast for tomorrow night and the next day, failed to impress the fractal humans.
