Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:  

Today's image is a quickie diversion in the environs of a minibrot on the main spike of the Mandelbrot set, not far from its tip.  The ratings for the image are so low because there is little to the art and nothing new in the math.

The name "Out on a Limb" refers to the location of the scene.  The calculation time of 2-1/4 minutes is actually quite fast for an arbitrary precision image, though the quickest way to view the image is still to check the FOTD web sites.

The day began with sun here at Fractal Central, but clouds appeared by 10am and thickened during the rest of the day, until at sunset it appeared as though the forecast snow and ice storm was on the FC doorstep.  The temperature rose from 1F -17C at sunrise to an afternoon high of 28F -2C.  The fractal cats did their best to keep warm by chasing each other up and down the hallway from the kitchen to the living room.  Meanwhile, the humans had other stuff to do.
