Fractal
visionaries
and enthusiasts:
Though today's image departs from the 'deep scenes' theme of the month,
it is well worth the departure. The rating of a 9 is no
mistake. The underlying image is worth only a 7, but I
awarded
myself a full 2 points for the coloring, which gives the image most of
its impact.
The parent fractal is the Mandeloid that results when the expression
Z^(2.2)+C is calculated 2 levels up the hyperladder with the 'recip'
function applied. This parent is one of the most torn up I
have
yet stumbled upon. I'll not try to describe it in words,
though
it may easily be viewed by resetting the logmap to zero and backing out
of today's image.
Today's scene is located in a jagged clump of debris on the west side
of what I assume is the main bay. The minibrot at the center
of
the image closely resembles its parent fractal. The most
impressive feature of the image is the coloring of the central disk and
the five broad arms radiating from this disk.
The name "Blues in the Basin" refers to the bluish tinge I applied to
the central disk and five radiating arms. And for a change,
the
program supplied only a small part of this coloring.
The calculation time of a zippy 18 seconds will seem reasonable to even
the most impatient fractalist.
A typical mid-august day prevailed here at Fractal Central today, with
hazy skies, a high temperature of 86F 30C and humidity within
reason. All this lasted until mid-afternoon, when a
thunder-shower moved in and dropped the temperature to 68F
20C.
The rest of the day was cloudy and more like autumn than
summer.
The fractal cats showed little concern with the outside
conditions. They were more concerned with a line gauge,
(printer's ruler that measures picas), that we laid on the table.
The humans, in a very human manner, passed the day doing what needed to
be done, though now that our biggest customer has gone elsewhere, this
is sometimes too little to keep us busy. The next FOTD will
be
posted in 24 hours. Until then, take care, and does having
faith
in something always mean it is true?
