Fractal
visionaries
and enthusiasts:
Today's image is named "Little Lost Child". The reason for
the
name is that the parameters were lost when I saved the image in the
wrong GIF format. But do not despair. The image,
which
rates an 8, may be viewed on the FOTD web site at:
<http://www.crosscanpuzzles.com/Archives.html>
Unfortunately, since the parameters are lost, there is no
high-definition version on Hal's site.
The lost parameters are not that big a drawback because the calculation
time is over an hour, and it is unlikely that many fractalists would
actually have run the parameter file.
The image is a scene deep in the East Valley of a minor minibrot on the
main stem of the Mandelbrot set. It is definitely not the
large
minibrot, but without the parameters I have no way to determine exactly
which minibrot.
Even though the parameters are gone, I have chosen this image to be
FOTD for August 01 because of the unusually rich, almost too rich,
colors.
Monday was sultry here at Fractal Central, with a mix of clouds and
sun. Thunder threatened several times but nothing ever
developed. The fractal cats would have preferred a
temperature a
little below 90F 32C, but they made the most of things. The
humans accomplished what needed to be done without incident.
The
next FOTD, complete with parameter file, will be posted in 24
hours. Until then, take care, and one sure way to be
misinformed
is to watch all those popular science shows on the cable channels.
