the great east

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image is a different view of a tiny minibrot in the east valley area of a larger minibrot on the main stem of the Mandelbrot set.  The minibrot is sliced in the Rectangular direction, which explains why it looks nothing at all like a Mandelbrot minibrot or a mini-Julia set.

As is usually the case with fractals created by taking odd slices of the Julibrot, the image has been stretched and skewed to bring it to reasonable proportions.  The thin diagonal yellow lines through the open area are parts of the west branch of the large valleys on the north and south shore lines of the main bay of the underlying minibrot.

The rating of 7-1/2 is largely earned by the coloring, which is just about all the image has going for it.  The name "The Great East" simply tells that the scene lies to the east of a larger minibrot.  The calculation time of 3-1/4 minutes is within reason.  The web sites can completely remove the need to calculate.

Spring arrived with a day of total sun and a chorus of bird song here at Fractal Central today.  The temperature of 59F 15C was the warmest in at least one entire month.  The fractal cat, taking advantage of the strong sun, passed the afternoon on his shelf in the southwest window.  The humans passed the day working, though FL's gardening enthusiasm is growing fast.

The next FOTD will be posted when it is ready.  Until that glorious moment arrives, take care, and political correctness might keep people happy, but it all too often fails to admit and solve the problems.
